The Hotel Granada
Midtown Atlanta
The Granada Apartments opened in 1924 in Atlanta, Georgia. They were beautiful Spanish Colonial buildings designed by Havis and Constantine.

The apartments were converted to a hotel in the 1980s, which then changed hands a few times. Thankfully, the newest owners had no desire to tear down this historic beauty. They preserved and restored the best of the original design elements. There were many players involved including an architect in New Orleans, builders from Atlanta, management from Chicago, and interior design from Austin. The very last piece of the project was restoring the original mosaic patio.
“I got an email out of the blue one day. There was this wonderful historic restoration that was entirely complete except for this mosaic. The patio outside the stunning courtyard was covered with very fine mosaic, but someone had cut out a section – probably for a pipe repair or something - and didn’t know how to fix it. It looked so sad that they had to cover the whole thing with a rug. It was deeply gratifying to bring back this beautiful work of art.” - Sarah
